Project narrative

On November 14, 2020, the China Buddhist Friendship Association (SLCBFA), with financial assistance from the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, commenced Phase 1 of a program to donate dry rations and hand sanitizers to Buddhist temples throughout Sri Lanka. Phase 1 involved a specific donation of dry food rations and hand sanitizers to Dr. Ittapane Dhammalankara Thera, the Chief Prelate of the Kotte Chapter of the Sri Wijayalokaramaya Temple in Rukmalgama, Pannipitiya. The specific financial assistance from the Chinese Embassy is unspecified. A handover ceremony was held for this donation. The supplies were delivered by Sumathi Dharmawardena (PC), the President of SLCBFA. Aruna Silva, the General Secretary, and K.G. Chandrasiri, the Assistant Treasurer of SLCBFA, were also present at the handover ceremony. Phase I of this program will also cover Buddhist temples in the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts. Phase II will cover the Kurunegala, Kandy, Matale, Kegalle, and Anuradhapura districts. The final phase will cover remaining Buddhist temples in the rest of the districts in Sri Lanka.
