On October 21, 2021, the Chinese Government provided 600 tons of rice to the Visaya Disaster Response Center of the Philippine Department of Social Welfare and Development. Chinese Consul General Jia Li handed over the rice to the department on behalf of the Chinese government. The donation was made to help Philippine citizens affected by COVID-19 and the rice will be included in family food packs which will be distributed during Philippine government response operations. Each bag of rice weighs 50 kilos and is expected to help 100,000 households. The Visaya Disaster Response Center is in charge of distributing the rice. A handover ceremony was held for this donation. Consul General Jia Li, and directors of the Philippine Seventh District Social Welfare and Development Bureau attended the ceremony.
