Project narrative

On February 2, 2021, the Chinese Embassy provided 2,000 Huawei tablet computers to the Government of the Philippines. The computers were then distributed to the Philippine Secretary of Education and Assistant to the President for Foreign Affairs. The purpose of this donation was to support virtual education efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. The monetary value of this donation is unknown. A handover ceremony was held for this donation at the Philippine Presidential Palace. China’s Ambassador to the Philippines, Huang Xilian, delivered the computers to the Philippine Secretary of Education, Leonor Magtolis Briones, and Presidential Assistant Poch.
