In June 2021, the Chinese Government and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a commodity assistance agreement. China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) agreed to donate 40,000 tons of flour, 20,000 tons of sugar, 20,000 tons of vegetable oil to the Government of Kyrgyz Republic. Then, on November 4, 2021, the Chinese Government delivered an initial batch of donated commodities — including 1,150 tons of white flour, 75 tons of sugar. and 50 tons of soybean oil — to the State Material Reserves Fund under the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The humanitarian aid arrived in 58 containers. The State Material Reserves Fund under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic unloaded containers from October 5, 2021 to October 25, 2021 and the humanitarian cargo was placed in storage at the State Material Reserves Fund ’s central base located in Bishkek until a special decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic was taken. The Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Boobek Azhikeyev and Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen signed the Acceptance and Transfer Act at the official handover ceremony in Bishkek on November 4, 2021.
