Project narrative

On October 11th, the opening ceremony of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Aviation Training Course began. This course will help train 52 professionals from Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam in civil aviation specialties, including air traffic control, flight dispatch and aircraft maintenance. The training course, which is offered by Civil Aviation Flight University of China (CAFUC), will last for two months, from mid-October to mid-December. It was taught online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 56 teachers taught participants civil aviation theories and practices in English. The course will have a total of 1186 class hours (including 484 class hours for theoretical courses and 702 class hours for practical training courses). Subjects taught include "Radar control training for civil aviation controllers in countries along the Lancang and Mekong Rivers", "competence-based training for flight dispatchers in Lancang-Mekong countries" and "cultivation of civil aircraft maintenance professionals in countries along the Lancang-Mekong River." The closing ceremony of the course was held on December 20th, 2021, with all 52 students successfully completing the course.
