Project narrative

In 2021 and 2022, the Chinese Government donated approximately 12.6 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Egypt. The Chinese Government delivered 300,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Egypt on February 23, 2021. Then, in March 2021, the Chinese Government delivered 300,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Egypt. The Chinese Government delivered an additional 2 million donated Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses to the Government of Egypt on November 1, 2021. On January 19, 2022, the Chinese government pledged to donate 10 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Egypt. Then, on September 24, 2022, the Chinese Ambassador donated 10 million doses of Sinovac vaccines on behalf of the government to Egypt to help Egyptian women, children and adolescents. The ceremony was held at the Egypt-based Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA) Factory. This donation project was led by Chinese First Lady Peng Liyuan and facilitated by the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD). The ceremony also marked the completion of the Automated and Refrigerated Vaccine Storage Complex Construction Project built by Sinovac and VACSERA.
