Project narrative

On March 12, 2021, an official handover ceremony was held for the Chinese-funded Malawai Outdoor Volleyball Court. The court is located in Nadi, Fiji and its construction was fully funded by the Chinese Embassy. China Civil Engineering Group South Pacific (Fiji) Co., Ltd. constructed the court and it was completed in December of 2020. The facility is intended for sports like volleyball, badminton, and other wellness programs. China’s Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo, and Fiji’s Minister of Employment, Youth, and Sports Affairs, Parveen Kumar Bala, attended the ceremony. 100 people from the Fiji Youth and Sports Department, government officials from the Western District, some diplomats from the embassy, employees of China Civil Engineering Group South Pacific (Fiji) Co., Ltd., and people from the community also attended the event.
