Project narrative

On February 16, 2021, the Chinese Government handed over 14,056 boxes of ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) to the UN children's agency, UNICEF, to help in the fight against child malnutrition in South Sudan. This donation was made in response to South Sudan’s nutrition crisis with an estimated 313,000 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition in 2021. The monetary value of this donation is unknown. A handover ceremony was held for this donation. Andrea Suley, the UNICEF South Sudan Representative, stated that this donation will treat over 14,000 children with severe acute malnutrition.
