Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On April 29, 2021, a team of 8 Chinese forensic pathologists arrived in Apia Samoa to assist in the post-mortem examination of a backlog of 13 bodies that have been stored in the morgue for almost 1 year awaiting autopsies. The Chinese government provided the equipment for the post-mortem examination and also covered all the expenses including the autopsy, traveling, and accommodation of the Chinese forensic pathologist team, costing more than 500,000 Tala. At the additional request of the Samoan government, the Chinese forensic pathologist team also conducted 3 more autopsies of current cases. The team also conducted two forensic technical training lectures at the invitation of the Samoa Police, including the crime scene investigation and the fingerprint application.
