Project narrative

On August 4, 2021, the Chinese Ambassador Wang Xuefeng handed over a donation of 8 oxygen concentrators and 20 ventilators to Dr. Edwin Dikoloti, Botswana's Minister of Health and Wellness. The next day on August 5, Ambassador Wang handed over another donation of 1,900 isolation gowns, 40 boxes of surgical gloves, 20 boxes of examination gloves, 1,650 goggles, 1,980 face shields, and 1,900 coveralls. The donation was given to help Botswana in its fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. While the value of the oxygen concentrators and ventilators that were given on August 4th are unknown, the donation given on August 5 had a monetary value of USD 60,000. This donation is the first of two donations that fall under a USD 500,000 project under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund framework. The overall project aims to help with Botswana's fight against COVID-19 and HIV, improve basic health services, maternal and childcare, and reproductive health services. The second donation is captured in Record ID #96921.
