Full Description

Project narrative

On August 5, 2021, the Chinese Embassy in Botswana, the United Nations Population Fund in Botswana, and the Ministry of Health and Wellness jointly held the handover ceremony of China's anti-epidemic personal protective materials. The PPE donation, valued at USD 60,000, includes 1,900 isolation gowns, 20 boxes of examination gloves, 40 boxes of surgical gloves, 40 boxes of surgical masks, 1,650 goggles, 1,980 face shields and 1,900 coveralls which will be used to protect frontline workers amid the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. This donation is a project carried out by China and the United Nations Population Fund under the framework of the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund.

Staff comments

Since the breakdown of the donation value is not known between the Chinese Embassy in Botswana (an official Chinese agency) and the United Nations Population Fund (not an official Chinese agency), AidData estimates the official portion as half the total value (USD 60,000), so USD 30,000.
