Description

On November 1, 2021, the Chinese ambassador to Mozambique Wang Hejun attended a handover ceremony of humanitarian support in the form of food and cash assistance to Mozambique. This donation was made in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, in order to support Mozambique after Hurricane Idai caused casualties and widespread damage in Mozambique. The goal of this assistance is to repairing 8 schools, 3 markets and 17 houses and other facilities in the disaster-stricken areas of Mozambique. Cyclone Idai hit Mozambique in 2019, affecting hundreds of thousands of people. Directly following the cyclone, China sent aid in the form of a rescue team, as well as monetary and physical aid (see: Project ID# 87102, 97683, 97684, and 67539).
