China’s National Health Commission (NHC, 中华人民共和国国家卫生健康委员会) donated cardiology related medical equipment and supplies to support the establishment of Dominica’s first cardiology department in the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital (中多友谊医院). This cardiology department was officially opened with a formal launching ceremony on May 21, 2021. On May 22, 2021, doctors at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital utilized the equipment to conduct the first temporary pacemaker implant implemented in the hospital's history. They were able to resuscitate the life of a critically ill patient who suffered from severe bradycardia (very low heart rate).
