Project narrative

On September 26th, 2020, Remarks by Chinese ambassador to Kiribati at the National Day Reception Celebrating the 71th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 1st Anniversary of the Resumption of China-Kiribati Diplomatic Relations, referenced a cash grant provided to Kiribati by the Chinese government to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, according to a statement by the Chinese embassy during the 2021 New Year Reception, the Chinese government provided a USD $350,000 cash grant to Kiribati to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, along with PPE. It is unknown when exactly this grant was issued.
