On January 6, 2022, the Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi announced that the Ministry would provide a Sh51 billion grant to Kenya. This announcement was made during the inspection of the new Kipevu Oil Terminal at Mombasa Port in Kenya. The specific allocation of the grant and confirmation of its provision is unknown.
