Project narrative

On October 12, 2021, the Chinese Government donated 5,000 tons of rice to Cuba. The donation was processed by the Jiangxi Jingia Grain Corporation. The donation was shipped and arrived at the Port of Mariel in Cuba on March 23, 2022, and was unloaded on the 29th. This donation marks the ninth batch of materials provided by the Chinese government to Cuba under the 2021 emergency assistance for anti-epidemic materials, food, medicine, and medical supplies. Since the end of July 2021, under this emergency assistance, China has provided Cuba with multiple batches of supplies including ventilators, oxygen concentrators, antigen detection reagents, personal protective equipment, medical consumables, and medicines. The purpose of this donation is to alleviate food insecurity in Cuba. The monetary value of this donation is unknown.
