Project narrative

On November 15, 2020, the 20th Chinese Medical Team arrived in Djibouti. The team was made up of 9 doctors from Shanxi Provincial People's Hospital and was stationed at General Peltier Hospital. The team departed on November 18th, 2021. During their time in Djibouti, the team performed 10,954 outpatient and emergency consultations, admitted 595 hospitalized patients, performed 1,792 surgical operations and 436 anesthesia operations, saved 72 patients in critical condition, treated 8,205 patients with traditional Chinese medicine. The team received medals for their service during the pandemic from Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed. Since 1981, Shanxi Province has sent medical teams to Djibouti.
