Project narrative

In 2009, the City of Jinan donated a statue of Confucius to the City of Brisbane to mark the 150th anniversary of Queensland. The statue "aims to contribute to greater mutual understanding between Chinese and Australian people." The statue stands 2.7 meters in height and weighs around a ton. It was created by artists from the Shandong province in China. The statue was unveiled on December 22, 2009 by the Honourable Anna Bligh MP, Premier of Queensland, and Wang Liang, Vice Mayor, Jinan Municipal People’s Government.
