Project narrative

In 2005, the Chinese Embassy in Australia donated an unknown number of Chinese books to the National Library of Australia. Among the books donated in either 2005 or 2009 (captured in Record ID#97660) is the rare "Ode to Forty Scenes of the Old Summer Palace." This book has become a treasure in the collection of the Chinese Library Department of the National Library of Australia which houses the largest collection of Chinese books in the southern hemisphere. The financial value of the donated books is unknown.
