Project narrative

The Mudanjiang Municipal Government donated a friendship tree sculpture to the Mosman Council. The purpose of the sculpture was to celebrate the friendship between the communities of Mosman and Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province, China. The sculpture by artist Ann Cape is a replica of an original situated in Mudanjiang. According to a media report, the sculpture was installed "years" before the official unveiling ceremony in 2014. The installation and/or commitment date is unknown. On November 12, 2014, the sculpture was unveiled by Yang Ming, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Mudanjiang Municipal People`s Congress, and Councillor Peter Abelson, Mayor of Mosman. The financial value of the sculpture is unknown.
