Project narrative

On November 9, 2022, the Chinese Government donated 930 tons of wheat flour and 1,450 tons of fertilizer to El Salvador as emergency aid in response to the global food and fertilizer supply crisis, exacerbated by COVID-19 and the supply chain crisis. The donation is intended to help stabilize food and fertilizer supplies in El Salvador and support local agricultural production.The handover ceremony was held in San Juan Opico, attended by El Salvador President Nayib Bukele and Chinese Ambassador to El Salvador Ou Jianhong. The monetary value of the donation is unknown. The Chinese government also donated USD 100,000 worth of food, hygiene, and personal care items to El Salvador in the wake of Hurricane Julia (linked to Record ID#97695).
