In 2020, the City of Huai'an in China's Jiangsu province donated 12,000 protective masks and an unspecified number of thermometers to the Batonyterenye Municipal Government, its sister city, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first shipment of medical supplies occurred in late March 2020. The last occurred in April 2020. On April 23, 2020, the Batonyterenye Municipal Government announced the 12,000 protective masks received from Huai'an would be distributed to residents of the city. Earlier in the pandemic, Batonyterenye donated 2,000 protective masks to Huai'an during an outbreak of COVID-19 in China. The financial value of the donated medical supplies is unknown.
