Project narrative

In 2018, the Huangdao District People's Government, Qingdao donated a statue, "Song of the Wind," to the City of Adelaide. The bronze statue of a young girl holding an ancient Chinese harp by artist Zhang Saitao forms the centerpiece of the Adelaide-Qingdao Rose Garden in Veale Gardens, Adelaide. The statue celebrates the 2014 Sister City Agreement signed between Qingdao and Adelaide. A matching “sister” of the sculpture is located in Little Qingdao Park in the City of Qingdao, Shandong Province. On February 25, 2018, the sculpture, "Song of the Wind," was officially donated during the the Adelaide-Qingdao Rose Garden opening ceremony. Consul General of the Chinese Consulate in Adelaide, Cai Siping, and the Mayor of Adelaide attended the opening ceremony. The financial value of the statue is unknown.
