Project narrative

In December 2016, the Nanning City Provincial Government donated $1,189,098 AUD to the Bundaberg Regional Council to revamp Bundaberg's Nanning Friendship Gardens. The project involved significant ornamental stonework and the installation of a new large feature boulder imported from Nanning. The renovated gardens were opened to the public in December 2017. On May 12, 2018, a delegation from Nanning visited Bundaberg to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Bundaberg and Nanning that was established on May 12, 1998. During this visit, Bundaberg Mayors, Kay McDuff and Mal Forman were joined by Nanning Government Vice Secretary-General, Meng Wenhu to officially open the garden in a ceremony.
