Full Description

Project narrative

On July 26, 2022, the Chinese Consulate General in Niigata donated the "Complete Manuscripts of Lu Xun" (78 volumes) to Tohoku University. Considered the father of modern-day Chinese literature, Lu Xun was once enrolled at Tohoku University. The purpose of the donation was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan and the 115th anniversary of the founding of Tohoku University in Japan. On July 26, 2022, a handover ceremony took place in the university's Lu Xun Lecture Hall. The ceremony was attended by Sun Dagang, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate in Niigata and university officials. The financial value of the books is unknown.
