On March 16, 2020, the Liaoning Provincial Government donated a total of 79,800 surgical masks and 2,030 protective suits to Hokkaido and Kanagawa prefectures for COVID-19 prevention. The materials were flown from Shenyang Taoxian Airport in Liaoning to Tokyo, Japan. The financial value of the donation is unknown.
