Full Description

Project narrative

In June 2021, the Chinese Government provided USD 700,000 to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for desert locust control in Somalia, Kenya, and Uganda (see Record IDs #98000 and #98002). The funding was made through the FAO-China South-South Cooperation (SSC) Programme and supported FAO’s global action to control the Desert Locust outbreak, which threatened food security and livelihoods across East Africa in January 2020.

Staff comments

1. The total amount (USD 700,000) has been evenly split (USD 233,333) to each country to avoid double-counting.
