Project narrative

On August 24, 2018, the Jakarta Branch of the Bank of China donated IDR 100 million to Lombok, Indonesia. The purpose of the donation was to support recovery efforts in the wake of a destructive earthquake. On August 19, 2018, six earthquakes occurred in the West Nusa Tenggara Province of Lombok. Five aftershocks followed on August 20, 2018. The natural disaster killed over 500 people and injured over 7,000. NU CARE-LAZISNU was the formal recipient of the grant and was responsible for organizing provisions with the donation money. The funds were to be used to issue several emergency response kits, including those containing food (rice, instant noodles, eggs, cooking oil, sugar, biscuits, milk), emergency response materials (emergency school kits, trauma care items), health services equipment (sanitation kits, sanitation equipment, counseling services), refugee response items (household kits, tarps, tents, quilts, mats, baby diapers, elderly diapers, telon oil), and infrastructure recovery (portable toilets, bathing toilets, places of worship).
