Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 2012, China National Petroleum Corporation (中国石油) (CNPC) restructured and provided 10 shipping containers for use as classrooms in Niger. This initiative was part of the company’s humanitarian response to a malaria outbreak triggered by severe flooding in areas near CNPC’s project operations, including Zinder and Diffa, where oilfield supplies are transferred, as well as Niamey, the capital. In addition to the classroom conversions, CNPC also donated USD 125,000 worth of food and medicine (captured in Record ID# 98183).
