On April 21, 2020, Dalian University of Technology donated 5,000 masks to Hirosaki University in Aomori Prefecture for COVID-19 prevention. On April 21, 2020, a virtual donation ceremony was attended by Hirosaki University officials and the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Sapporo. The financial value of the donation is unknown.
