Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On September 6, 2022, the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong and his wife attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of ten brick houses in Kaluwankerni, an underdeveloped Tamil fishing village in the Batticaloa District. Then on October 23, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka donated 10 houses to underprivileged families. On October 23, 2022, the eve of Deepavali, Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong attended a ribbon cutting ceremony for the houses. Along with the keys to their new home, the villagers received food and household equipment. It is unclear if the houses were built or purchased by the embassy. The financial value of the donation is unknown.
