Project narrative

On August 26, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka held an award ceremony at the Chinese Cultural Center in Sri Lanka. At this ceremony, the Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenzong and his wife issued Chinese Government scholarships to 18 Sri Lankan students. Among those in attendance at the ceremony were the Sri Lankan Minister of Education Prema Jayantha and Cultural Counselor to the Embassy Zhang Yingbao. In his speech, the ambassador wished these students success in their studies so that they may contribute their knowledge to the development of friendship between the two countries. The students will study at Chinese institutions such as Sun Yat-sen University, Sichuan University, and Shandong University, among others. The Chinese government has provided scholarships to Sri Lankan students since 1975.
