Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On April 27, 2022, DFA Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro and Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian signed an exchange of letters for a grant from the Chinese Government amounting to RMB 8 Million for the purchase of six (6) fire trucks to support the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Marawi City. This grant was made in response to a request from Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM). The funding for the fire trucks is part of a larger RMB 1 Billion Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA), jointly initiated in 2019 by President Xi Jinping and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, aimed at financing livelihood projects, infrastructure facilities, feasibility studies, and other projects in the Philippines. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), a member of TFBM, has been designated by the Philippine Government as the implementing and recipient agency responsible for facilitating and receiving the donation. The Bureau of Fire Protection received the firetrucks on December 5, 2023 during a turn-over ceremony at the BFP National Headquarters in Quezon City.
