Project narrative

On October 23, 2022, the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong, and his wife traveled to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka accompanied by former Sri Lankan President Sirisena. Together they planted mango and coconut trees, symbolizing friendship. Then on behalf of the embassy, the ambassador handed over about LKR 5 million worth of fruit tree seedlings to local farmers. In his speech, the ambassador noted that China will continue to provide all kinds of assistance to Sri Lanka within its capacities.
