Project narrative

In 2020, China Eximbank provided a loan to Maersk, the world’s largest and well-known container shipping company, to support its procurement of containers from China. Among the 98,000 exported containers that were manufactured in China in 2020, 20,450 were reefer containers that had advanced technology and higher costs than ordinary containers. The monetary value of the loan is unknown. Confirmation of disbursement of funds from this loan is also unavailable.
