Project narrative

On August 21, 2023, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce provided a training course for Chinese-speaking tour guides in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The training class was sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and hosted by the Beijing International Chinese Language Training Institute. The course provided a lecture on Chinese culture, tour guide profiles, and practical skills for tour guides. 60 local, Chinese-speaking tour guides and tourism practitioners participated in the course. An opening ceremony was held for this training course. Zhong Jie, the Counselor of Economic Affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, and Yang Wei, the Vice President of the Beijing International Chinese Language Training Institute, attended and delivered a speech. Since the beginning of 2022, China has invited more than 1,000 Cambodian officials and technicians to participate in various training projects, involving economy and trade, medical and health care, education and teaching, agricultural development, environmental protection, public diplomacy, infrastructure, mineral resources and other fields.
