Project narrative

In early 2022, the Chinese government sent a medical team of 16 medical professionals to the Tirunesh Beijing Hospital (also known as the Ethiopia-China Friendship Hospital) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia offering all kinds of health care services at the hospital. By August 2022, Zhang Zhiren, team leader, reported that the team had already aided over 20,000 Ethiopians, carried out over 300 surgeries, and trained local nurses in medical techniques such as regional anaesthesia. The team also organizes lectures about Chinese medicine and language at the hospital.
