Project narrative

On December 23, 2021, the closing ceremony of the Chinese Language Training Program for Mindanao Government Officials (Davao City) was held online. In attendance were Chinese Consul General in Davao Li Lin, President of Huaqiao University (HQU) Wu Jianping, Davao City Councilor and Chair of the City Council Education Committee Pilar Braga, and President Tabora of Ateneo de Davao University. The six-month free training program began on May 14, 2021. It was co-hosted by HQU and the Davao city government, and organized by HQU Office of International Chinese Language Education and Confucius Institute in Ateneo de Davao University. The 21 officials in this class are from eight government agencies of Davao City in class. These agencies include Mayor’s office, City Administrator’s Office, City Tourism Operations Office, Human Resource Management Office, Public Safety Security Command Center, etc. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the training class was offered online.
