Full Description

Project narrative

In 2013, Hanban and the Confucius Institute at Victoria University of Wellington announced that Hanban would be offering 100 places for New Zealand high school students to attend a two-week summer camp in China in July 2013. The summer camp in China will include a variety of language and cultural activities, with 30 students to be selected from the Lower North Island. The trip was scheduled to run from July 10-July 24, 2013, with visits to Beijing and one other city in China. All planning and logistics were to be handled by Hanban, with programming including Chinese cultural workshops, trips to local areas, and opportunities to interact with Chinese high school students and their families. Hanban was covering all in-China expenses, including accommodation, domestic transportation, sightseeing and tourist activities, and meals. Students were required to pay for their return travel to China.
