Project narrative

In June 2022, a document was signed between Wang Yi, the Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister, and the Prime Minister of Fiji promising a donation of 720 tons of fertilizer from China to Fiji. On November 11, 2022, the handover ceremony of the fertilizer was held at the South Pacific Fertilizer Factory in Lautoka, Fiji. Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office of Fiji Karan, and CEO of Fiji South Pacific Fertilizer Company Ram attended the ceremony. The donation was made as emergency aid, specifically requested by Fiji, and will benefit 12,000 sugarcane growers and other non-sugar agriculture Fijian farmers.
