Project narrative

On October 13, 2022, China and Guyana signed the "Civil Air Transport Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.” The purpose of this agreement is to facilitate air transport connectivity between China and Guyana and develop mutual relations in the field of civil aviation. Specific matters addressed with this agreement include airline designation and authorization, revocation, suspension of authorization or imposition of conditions, capacity and frequency provisions, recognition of certificates and licenses, aviation safety, and security and tariffs. The signing took place at the Ministry’s boardroom at Kingston, Georgetown, Guyana. Guyana’s Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill and Ambassador of China to Guyana, Guo Haiyan, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries. According to Edghill, the agreement complements the more than fifty Air Services agreements Guyana has already established with other subscribing states.
