Project narrative

On December 1, 2007, a new statue of Confucius was unveiled at Burwood City Park in Greater Sydney, New South Wales. The statue was donated by the China Overseas Friendship Association, the China Guangcai Promotion Association, the Chinese Overseas Chinese Federation, the China Confucius Foundation, and the Jining Municipal Government of China to celebrate 35 years of diplomatic relations between the Commonwealth of Australia and the People`s Republic of China. This marked the first Confucius statue placed in Australia.
